Actually American people supported Clinton through the impeachment.

Just because they didnt think of him being of high morals doesnt mean they thought he should be impeached over it.

Clinton was impeached on Lewinsky matter. Now if there were more serious charges that could be brought, why didn't the republicans bring those? Because they didn't hold water.

There could have been I suppose. But we need to ask Susan McDougal about that. Oh wait she wouldnt testify, was thrown in jail for contempt, and then pardoned by the very person who she had to testify against.

Yeah, he shouldn't have been impeached. And he is not a sexualy moral person as far as fidelity is concerned. But there is more to morality than not cheating on your wife. I think Clinton policies were very much moral. Not handing down huge amounts of debt to your children is a moral policy, IMO.

damn right... private lives are private lives... so what if he gat a knobber... he didnt bumblefuk the country up ... what's dub's excuse...

The media is a bunch of whores out to make money... they wanted every sleazy detail... they got them... they got rating... and they didnt care who they destroyed along the way... or who's emotions they fuked with...

EDIT: pronoun
The media did nothing. Clinton pointed his finger at every single America and exclaimed "I did not have sex with that woman...Monica Lewinsky." He bald-faced lied to every one of us. If he wants to redefine sex, well...sure, go ahead. I wonder if Bill would mind sending Chelsea over my house tonight so I could not have sex with her?

Just make sure she brings a spare dress along.

It really frightens me that lying about a consensual sexual relation is worse than lying about a war.
It frightens me that you feel the flaming desire to deflect this thread.

Frankly, the hypocrisy in your thinking is quite telling actually.
Frankly, I made no comparison between Clinton and anyone else, you did. So, whatever strawman you're trying to erect, please bash it to the ground and burn it now because it's doing you no good whatsoever.

Your false sense of outrage of Clinton's lie and your continued support of a habitual liar is what I'm referring to.

Your attempt to label GWB is duely noted. However it never address's the core of the thread. Simply trying to deflect this onto somebody who has nothign to do with this makes your side look silly.

A hundred years from now history will be be describing the Clinton impeachment and so-called scandals along the lines of the Salem witch hunts of our colonial days. Public hysteria and tragic results for no reason at all. The GOP did a magnificent job of manipulating our legal system and public opinion. Perhaps it was entertaining for some, but it certainly hurt our country.

I saw parts of the interview. Specifically that part. In his narcissitic ways, he said the American people were wrong about him.

The balls on some people are amazing. To have a nationally done poll that says you are just a step above Nixon on morals and you say they are wrong after all you did during your 8 years. Amazing brass set he has. I heard Hillary has a platinum set to match his.

The guy was lucky the media deflected the real story about Whitewater and all those people who mysteriously commited suicide, left the country, or wouldnt testify. Lewinsky was chump change for this guys presidency.
But they couldn't fool a genius like you. Hehe, some people have brains of brass.

Yep. That sums that post quite well.

Facts or opinion?

quote:

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
George W. Bush, President of the United States

given documents he thought were true
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

AFAIK, Bush himself never even saw the documents.

quote:

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
failed to thoroughly investigate the facts
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

It's not the president's responsibility to "investigate the facts." The CIA and George "Slam Dunk" Tenet were supposed to do that and failed, pasing bad info on to Bush.

quote:

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
reported documents to the American people as true to make his case
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Erm...that's because his intelligence advisors told him it was true. It was also based on information from the UK which was not related to the Niger documents.

Bush's claim was not a lie either:

http://www.factcheck.org/article222.html

But what he said ? that Iraq sought uranium ? is just what both British and US intelligence were telling him at the time. So Bush may indeed have been misinformed, but that's not the same as lying.

quote:

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
when confronted with the facts, twisted the truth and stonewalled an investigation
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

If you're going to slam someone on facts you better have your straight. Your assertion is untrue:

http://www.washingtonpost.com/...Jun12?language=printer

A White House spokesman said yesterday, "We have acknowledged that some documents detailing a transaction between Iraq and Niger were forged and we no longer give them credence. They were, however, only once piece of evidence in a larger body of evidence suggesting Iraq attempted to purchase uranium from Africa."

As to the investigation, it's ongogin but going slowly. Maybe you should gripe about the democratic Senator Jay Rockafeller, since it's his baby and ask him why he's dragging his feet? Is there something the democrats don't want to divulge about these forgeries? Considering their recent involvement with other forgeries, I certainly wouldn't put it past them to have done these as well.

Here are some documents and reports on the case:

given four more years as President of the United States

Clinton's problem was that he was the quintessential American. The most powerful man in the world and yet, vulnerable. I think all the moralistic sh!ts on this board and elsewhere in the US hated him because he was what they were - but better. I've lived in the US long enough to know that you bumfvcks criticizing Clinton's morality are fvcking hypocrites, nothing more. Yeah, you Genx87, are a fvcking hypocrite.

Facts or opinion?

Facts, with a larger agreement on the state of america's hypocisy in morality crisis:
http://www.whitehouse.gov/news...002/10/20021007-8.html

In justifying the reasons to goto war in iraq Bush stated in a speech:

"The threat comes from Iraq. It arises directly from the Iraqi regime's own actions -- its history of aggression, and its drive toward an arsenal of terror. Eleven years ago, as a condition for ending the Persian Gulf War, the Iraqi regime was required to destroy its weapons of mass destruction, to cease all development of such weapons, and to stop all support for terrorist groups. The Iraqi regime has violated all of those obligations. It possesses and produces chemical and biological weapons. It is seeking nuclear weapons. It has given shelter and support to terrorism, and practices terror against its own people."

The duelfer repost showed these claims as false. I don't know about you but in my world a person who speaks falsehoods is a LIAR. BUT THIS THREAD IS NOT ABOUT BUSH. If you want to debate whether Bush is a liar just do a search there are tons of threads and discussions on P&N about this. 🙂

Politicians ALL have GIANT Skeleton Closets and each others careers depend on keeping others quiet about what they know 😉

Well, GWB is ten times more immoral than Clinton ever was, but people think of him as God-like, so he has to be right at the top, no? My question was to put your objection into perspective.

They didnt cover him in the interview did they? Simply deflecting the argument onto GWB wont erase the fact the avg person thinks Clinton was 1 step above Nixon on a question of morals.

Of course most people are morons who like being spoonfed whatever the conservative media tells them.

He violated the sanctity of marriage.. "HANG HIM"

Bush is indirectly responsible for the deaths of approximately 15000 Iraqi citizens and giving away $200,000,000,000 to the Defense Industry and Haliburton - "re-elect him"

Clinton dropped hundreds of bombs on Iraq in hopes of taking out Saddam, his weapon sites, and his cronies in the 4-5 days of Operation Desert Fox. But he obviously failed miserably.

Who knows how manyc innocent people Clinton killed during Operation Desert Fox.

Man Clinton was just bad all around eh
