They have turned a deaf ear on the wishes of the American Public and proceeded to demonstrate how petty and mean spirited they can actually are.

Actually, do we really know that they acted against the wishes of the American public? The pollings taking during the impeachment process seem to indicate that, but then we all know how worthless the polls are.

Whether the Republicans were hypocrating themselves or not, they were doing their jobs. Remember, we have a system of checks and balances.

BTW, Clinton never apologized outright, he just gave a lame statement and didn't even admit he had done anything wrong (perjury, deception, conspiracy to cover up).

He only "apologized" for getting caught anyway.

How would you suggest measuring what the American public wants? We elected Clinton twice, and his job approval rating is high. That means that he is doing his job. And if he wants to screw around while he is at it, I certainly don't need to be informed of it.

Job approval rating is based on polls, only numbers that mean anything are votes.

Yes, he was elected twice, but the whole Monica thing blew up after his second election. Not only that, but Clinton wasn't elected by a majority. He got like 45% of the votes, or something around there. And if that's not enough, the total people voting only made up 49% of the population!

For those of you who believe there is nothing wrong with slack morals, consider this: take a good look at world dynasties of the past. Great world powers which have fallen have this common feature.

To do nothing is roughly equivalent to saying it's okay. Let just a few people get away with it, and more and more people will do it. It's usually impossible to see the effects of a single person's immorality or indiscretion. It's the cumulative, gradual effect which is so damaging, and by its very nature occurs so slowly that we cannot recognize it is happening. That is dangerous. Therefore, it is not unreasonable to expect those in power to adhere to a higher set of standards, for their actions are visible to a greater portion of the population.

The humiliation was indeed a great price to pay for anyone whose very existence relies on the public opinion. Some deterrent is necessary.

Best regards,
Floyd

Actually Red, what that shows me is that nearly 75% of the eligible voters didn't think enough of Billybobclinton to vote for him (hardly glowing praise ya think?). It also shows that the 51% that didn't vote deserve to have other people make decisions for them.

Why? , because is does not matter unless your some petty individual hung up about Sex due to being reared by your father, being mind fscked by the Church or looking to take down a Political Opponent. >>

I don't think you understand the severity of potential threat that a promiscuous president poses to the security of our country. What if Monica wasn't just a ditzy overweight bimbo looking for some rich hoagie? We should be thankful (assuming that this hasn't already happened) that she wasn't attempting to extort military or technological secrets secrets from the president as "hush money". What if her "pimp" was the Chinese government and threatened to expose his tryst with MoniKa to the American public but would keep quiet for some nuclear weapons secrets? Do ya think Billybob would have sold us up the river to keep things hush hush? I certainly do. Billybob has shown that he definately does not serve the best interests of our country, and instead his master is his dong, not his country.

It's niave to think everthing revolves around "sex", "sex" is a minor player--the issue is honor and at what lengths our "fearless" leader will go to cover up his indiscretions.

Maybe so, but it's not up to the congress to make those decisions. I am sure if those 51 percent didn't like Bill Clinton that much, they would have gotten out and voted for Dole.

Some of your conclusions there are very far fetched what ifs. You can say all you want, but after spending a crapload of public money investigating the president, all the republicans could find was an affair with an intern. If that's the worst thing he did in office, I think he did pretty well.

Let me remind you that Republicans lost seats in congress following impeachment (tells you something?), and Newt Gingrich revolution was out of the door with Newt. They threw all they had at him, and still got bitch-slapped.

All things equal, in just a couple of months Clinton gets the boot and all of Wild Bill's scandals will remain a thing of the past. Come January we clean the slate and start anew! ;)
