Clinton on working class Southerners: "Screw 'em"

Way to take it commpletely out of context, and I know you are doing it just on purpose to be inflamitory too. If you are capable of reading past the title you can see she was talking about the people who didn't vote for Bill and went Republican, not saying "screw the working class southerners". Basically you are a troll, that is all.

"'Screw 'em,' she said, 'you don't owe them a thing, Bill, they're doing nothing for you.' Bill rose to their defense, 'as if rehearsing an old but honorable debate he had been having with his wife for decades,'" as one attendee recalled.

"'I know these boys,' Bill said. 'I grew up with them. Hardworking poor white boys who feel left out.' He pointed out that liberal reforms had often 'come at their expense' and that the Democrats had to 'find a way to include these boys in our programs.' Hillary had no rejoinder, but during cocktails after the seminar she stood apart, 'opaque and unsmiling.'"

Hmm, I gained a sense of respect for the former president. Though I suspect his gift always was to charm people.

Does he have the quote on tape or official government documents? Not saying she didn't say it but that is some weak sauce with no official evidence

What this says to me is,

Bill Clinton understands what Obama was talking about when it comes to "bitter" americans.

But could you imagine the furor if Obama called them, "poor white boys?" <sounds elitist.

Holy Cow! Now I can go back and vote for Obama. She is calling voters bitter too. Oh man, this is just terrible. How could she have so little respect for people. She's just like Obama and so is Bill. Again, Obama becomes the lesser of three evils, but man, they sure are all a bunch of elitists. You gotta admit though, the McCain gas bribe is tempting.

Dear me, dear me, so many important issues.

Understood*

damn... i thot maybe chelsea was coming down here to give it up for some votes for her mom...

darn misleading headlines...

Oh boy, all the Hitlery apolgoists are coming out of the woodwork, huh? 😉

I don't see how the title is misleading or out of context and in fact highlights the difference between Obama and Hitlery: Hitlery divides and conquers while Obama wants to reach across the aisle and work together for the common good.

Nope, no omissions between the cut and paste job that I can see...

McCain is the only one running with a record of reaching across the aisle to work together.

but I'm a communist and part-time Marxist, so Gobama!

This is just as bad as the people who lambasted Obama for his cling to guns, religion statement. Both sides are so desperate they are grasping on nothing - finding offense when there was none intended.

Heres the key piece:

the White House Years" -- that Sen. Hillary Clinton, D-NY, during a 1995 retreat called the "Camp David Seminar on the Future of Democracy had some interesting comments about working-class white Southerners who had left the Democratic party:

"'Screw 'em,' she said,

she isn't saying screw white southerners, shes saying "you reap what you sow".

Instead of personal attacks why don't we talk about the issues. Oh right, neither side wants to do that.

Before you jump ship, look at the recipes McCain plagarized from the Food Channel-all elitist fare, not one Jello dish in the bunch.

Well at least there's ONE thing Hitlery can legitimately claim she disagrees with her husband on. Obama's "bitter" comments pales in comparison to how Hitlery views the working poor in the south.

Hitlery? Wow, you are so clever. People like you are one more reason to not vote for Obama, or any candidate you might support.

Seriously? What does Phokus' support of Obama have to do with him or any candidate he supports? There are pro-Clinton people on this board who trash Obama at every opportunity but if Hillary should somehow win the nomination I'm not going to vote McCain to spite them.

Edit: IMO this was out of context and a non-issue. Same as Obama and bitter and McCain and recipes.

Screwing is reserved for those who've left the democratic party. As long as you stay with the party, you're goin' dry, buddy
