Explain to me how Gore LOST when he had everything in the world going for him?
After the Monica thing Clinton was damaged goods. He LIED straight out to the American people. And while we don't talk about that now, that was fresh on the mind of everyone in 2000. How else do you explain the fact that Gore ran away from him?

EDIT: Don't forget his North Korea policy was a total failure as well. He put into a place an agreement that the North was most likely violating the day it was signed. He would have to answer for that mistake as well.

As a President he had a good economy, but his foreign policy was a mess, outside of Bosnia and Kosovo.

Are you insane? Of course he would win. A debate between him and King George would be the funniest thing since Spinal Tap.

Gore lost BECAUSE he treated Clinton as damaged goods. For all the sh!t that Clinton did and him lying straight to the camera, most Americans still forgave the guy and the Democratic base still worshipped him (Americans are more forgiving about lying about a BJ than they are about lying about WMDs to get us into a drawn out conflict.). Gore isn't even half the politician that Clinton was (and still is) and if Clinton had merely breathed on him he could have made Gore's *&^@ smell like roses.

And IIRC, Clinton's approval rating when he left the White House was quite admirable.

Makes sense. The dot com bubble hadn't fully burst yet and we were "at peace" ... that is, threats were materializing and had been for 8 years.

I'll never understand the left's sainthood of Clinton and, honestly, I don't see too many people even try to defend Gore.

But that's not really the point. We're talking '99/'00 here. An alliance with Clinton through 2000 would have helped him considerably (IMHO). Sure, Gore back then was seen as a loveable loser/boring tree-hugger, but I don't think that the idiocy factor had settled in yet.

Four years of feeling sorry for yourself and blaming your loss on a conspiracy is what led to Gore's idiocy/lunacy 🙂 But back before the election...not so much.

I'm bitter towards just the one forum member...see the recent threads where I have tried to explain the facts of life.

On a happier note, I have been extremely happy with the Conservative Party in Canada. I wish Americans had access to such a party...it would win hands down (minus the social conservative nuts). :thumbsup:
