The subject title flight simulator was forced out early by UBIsoft and its had its share of bugs which the development team has worked to patch.

Still, it's obvious that the game has some serious potential.

Keep in mind that unlike an FPS, everything in a simulator is happening in real-time and in 3D. The physics required to calculate the flight of the plane, trajectory of the bullets, AI, landscape rendering, etc... is orders of complexity beyond an FPS.

Obviously, the in-game footage is post-processed a bit but it really is amazing when you imagine this is not a render.

If you're in to sims, especially flight sims, graphics that are off the bleeding edge won't deter you. Picked this up on Steam a few weeks back for a ridiculous price, and it's a great sim. Any combat flight sim lover has got to own a copy. There just aren't that many good ones out there.

I really wanted to get into IL:2, and I laughed when I saw bad reviews on Cliffs of Dover, because I knew it will be patched to greatness. But the fact that a good controller costs $200+ and that I dont even have the space for it on my table always prevents me from enjoying flight sims. I tried playing with KB and crappy joystick, but it is just never enough.

Oleg left the team MONTHS ago. That was the day I officially gave up on this sim. Without Oleg its nothing.

Uh, no. Not even close.

That's what I use.

I've been playing flight sims since Falcon 3.0 on our old 386, and never have I had to pay more than $60-$70 for a great joystick to thoroughly enjoy them.

Oleg went to pursue other interests... Soem of which can be rolled back into COD...

Yeah... What's always funny to me is how poeple don't understand tat by design, flight sims will always be a bit off state of the art graphics wise... Still the graphics are great compared to other serious simulation offerings - especially the in-cockpit views...

I just use FSX. If I want a real sim I fly DCS Black Shark, that is a real sim. I kept wondering why I would start turning left and crash until I read more of the manual and figured out I was getting blade stall by hovering too long in one spot.
