Clicking links to threads that contain page numbers

There are few things I fine more annoying on the this forum than links people make to other threads that contain page numbers. I list 200 post per page in my preferences, and when others that list fewer link to a page on a thread, it borks my browsing experience.

Lets say a thread has 250 post, that would be 2 pages for me. Yet for someone who only shows 20 post per page, there would be 13 pages. When this person links to page 10, I have to manually adjust the link to view the thread, which sucks. There are no page links on the page that comes up, so you can't just click a link, you have to type it in. I would like to reiterate now how much this sucks.

If there is something I can do on my end to correct this, please feel free to flame me for being an idiot AFTER telling me how to fix it. If not, perhaps I should drop a line to Fusetalk.

Your browser is doing exactly what it is told to do.
The poster of the link did exactly everything correct without expending any extra effort.

However, as you describe, the bridge built out from both sides of the river failed to match up properly.

The person that generates the link could if they were considerate, remove the page number from the link before posting the message.

However, the key word is considerate and as you have found, some people do not act that way.

Good point. From now on, consideration is the word because of the deficiencies of Fusetalk.

I Think fusetalk should link to a messid not a threadid & pageid. Too bad a link modified with the messid in the querystring is not used.

Agreed. Most times, when people link to a page, they're actually trying to point out/link to a specific post.

Long ago I determined that the limit was 100 per page (perhaps because higher values didn't result in more than 100?). Has this changed?

But yeah, posts per page isn't the only thing... Page numbers in long posts are sometimes totally useless due to the post deletion bug (Old, perhaps fixed? Doubt it.), and the fact that clicking "Last" or ">" almost always takes you to page 3-10 instead. The pagination is totally borked and almost useless.

I've seen several instances where clicking "Last" or ">>" takes you to an error message because there would not be that many pages. Fusetalk *really* needs to link by message ID of the last post in the thread. It should also be modified so that page links point to the message ID of the topmost post on that page. There should also be an easy way to link to any particular message in a thread and have to correct page come up no matter what view settings are used.
