We got the sort in search fig'd out, but this has been irking me too

I'll get a list of threads from my username search and multipage threads have 1,2,Last to jump to its pages... but when clicking last, I always get this screen (in pic)

Any tips?

Thx

Sometimes the number of posts being returned by a query is the exact multiple of your personal settings.
When that happens, you get an empty page.

IF so, follow the recommendations of the poster above.

This is a result of the page display algorithms.

I betcha you have your default set over the standard. I mave mine set at 100, but when I change it to the default, I don't get a blank page.

what default personal settings?

That would also happen to land on the personal settings every thread I ever clicked LAST on... I can't remember the last time LAST actually brought me to a page so that would have to be an incredibly high rate of coincidence....

Thx for the replies

Yep, I reported this right after the "upgrade".
As Evadman said, it happens when your thread view is set to display more threads than whatever is default, I have 100 for example.

If you can give me a recreation case, happy to investigate.

That would need to include the amount of posts per page you have set in your profile, and exactly what to search for to see the issue.

As stated, I have 100/page.
I get it anytime I search, for example right now, searching for posts by me, the fourth result has 131 replies, but still has "1 2 Last", and if clicking last, that would be post #201, which doesn't exist, hence the empty page.

Again I don't know what the default is, but I'm guessing 25 since the eleventh result has 44 replies and gets the same thing, only now it's obviously only "1 2" and 2 gets me the empty page.

The threads referenced are "I hate to say it, but Blizzard has become "The Man"" with 131 replies and "SUN/Novell combine to form MS Windows Killer" with 44 replies.

Jason:

His problem does not seem to be what I have seen/described above.

If you are going to dig in and perform some magic, could you spread the benefits around?

Seems there's some improvement. This problem was happening with such frequecny I gave up trying the last page. (I notice this problem occurring when I use the search function to track my posts in threads. See if anybody has responded etc. The "last page" was invariably a blank)

After seeing this thread I tried a "last page" and it worked. But THIS thread did it to me again. Perhaps this is an example of the posts being an exact multiple of my setting (20)?

This still happens to me almost every time I click Last Page. It's getting pretty frustrating, actually. There's usually no list of pages, either, so it looks like:

<< >> Last Page

This means I have to click << to get a list and then click >> to go to the last page (simply clicking >> doesn't fix it).

I'm viewing 40 messages per page, by the way.

EDIT: Ok, maybe not almost every time. But enough so that it's becoming an irritation rather than a simple inconvenience.

EDIT 2: Ok, I figured it out. I often search for threads with posts by me so that I can check up on responses. It happens with every single thread that the search returns, but seems to work fine during normal browsing.
