Clicking checkboxes using keyboard?

There any software that can do that? For example, if there are 3 boxes I can press 2 and it'll check the second box.

Checkboxes on WHAT? Are you talking about checkboxes on websites? I don't know of any software for Windows apps. However if you're using a browser such as Firefox, there might be an add-on available. Check on Mozilla's website.

The tab key to change focus is the closest I think you'll find. Some voice recognition software can do it with Word but, I don't know of any that can do it with PDF files.

tab is your best bet. Tab to the box you want, and hit spacebar to check it.

Tab to toggle to the checkbox you want and space bar to press it, though if you are in a text area tab will actually do a tab in that text area, so you still need to use the mouse to some extent.

Try it with the quick reply box here for example, click the "post quick reply" button (don't let go the mouse button) and drag away, this will give that button focus, then use tab to go to the "show your signature" box and hit space bar.

As far as I know, there is no software that can automagically read your mind and know what order you would assign to any number of checkboxes on a page and map them to a certain keystroke.

Tab or Shift+Tab to cycle through everything and spacebar to select. Some websites it works great, others it'll go through every single clickable item in some annoying order not next to where your input was currently at.

Browsing with just a keyboard isn't convenient regardless. If you must use only a keyboard, you just have to get used to it.
