Ok, so after I install my ati 5.3 catalyst drivers I get this error message that reads cli.exe cannot initialize. Anobody got the same issue? My rig is in my sig.

CLI.exe is the process for the runtime of the catalyst control center. I would suggest reinstalling the drivers.

Actually, you might to check to see if you have .Net runtime installed since it is required for Catalyst Control Center. Reinstalling the drivers won't help that. You could also choose to use the legacy control panel and uninstall Catalyst Control Center.

True, if he doesn't have .net installed, which the say you absolutely need right on the drivers download page, then it probably won't work.

But if you don't get the CCC, you don't get any advanced features, they discontinued the legacy control panel.

ATI hasn't discontinued the legacy control panel yet, you can choose to use it or CCC, it just doesn't support the complete catalyst feature set. There are third party utilities that enable advanced Catalyst features without using CCC or .Net runtime as well, so CCC is not really required (just to be clear)

They discontinued it, but that doesn't mean they don't still offer the last available version of it. They said they will not do anything new with it, you have to get the CCC to do any advanced features. No reason not to get the CCC.

Not to keep beating the same tired point, but the control panel version numbers have changed over the past several Catalyst releases. There are differences between at least some of the versions as well, there is a bug related to DDC that is not present in earlier versions for instance, and maybe some other issues that I'm not aware of since I do use CCC myself.

There are a number of users that would disagree that there are no reason not to use CCC as judged from the numerous threads on that very issue. Like I said above, there are third party utilities that enable all Catalyst features enabled in CCC that don't require .Net runtime to be installed or CCC, so you do not have to get CCC to use them.
