CLI all users on startup with xp?

Hi, I just changed my seti config to the CLI and it looks like it is working. Will check in a few hours to see if I have uploaded any packets. Anyways my question is - is there a way to have seti start automatically with all users on xp?

Install it as a service and you'll have it autostart and be hidden (no taskbar icon). You need admin rights on the machine/domain though. If you need a link to the service install PM me and I'll either dig it up or send you what I use. 🙂

Personally, I never used the service install on XP. I just went to Control Panel -> Scheduled Tasks, and scheduled the client to run "at system startup". 🙂

I tried that once on a machine I was trying to assimilate. Three weeks later when I got back to check it I found for seemingly no reason after the first time it failed to start again. It did like 1 WU in 3 weeks. It should have done 6+ per day, needless to say I was disappointed.

I'll check when I get home, but I know if you go to the Documents and Settings folder and to the All Users folder and place a "shortcut" in the "Startup" folder there, it will run for everyone. Not sure about XP. You'll need Administrator status to place it there. I'll try to check and update when I get home.

Good Luck! 🙂

Just put a seti shortcut into the "all users" program files/startup folder.

It won't run unless some is logged in, but that hasn't been a problem with most of my assimilated PCs.

What JonB and I said above! 😛

Documents and Setttings\All Users\Start Menu\Programs\Startup <--This folder...place a shortcut of SETIDriver, etc. there. You may want to right click on it and set it to open "Minimized" so it will not open up full screen when running. 🙂

Hmmmm...I didn't even know that you could log on with more than one at a time! 😛

XP has fast user switching and you can have multiple people logged in at a time. There's a decent amount of service installs floating around, it's better because if the machine reboots or all users log off you can be sure it's running

ronnn - if you can't find one, let me know and I'll send you the one I wrote but they should be all over the various TeAm pages, people's sigs, faq's, etc.

We've had good luck with the Flexi installer for the RA i,nstalled to 44 machines at one time, just don't forget to reboot the machines and you don't have to be logged on for them to work

Actually, the newb install guide recommends using the prog called Seti Driver. I've found it to work well since it keeps progress on the CLI 3.03 process, it can queue a few WU's, it hides the command line 3.03 window, and it works well when put into the startup folder.
