Clearly MS priced Shadowrun wrong

Per Major Nelson, the Shadowrun demo has been in the top 5 played games for the last two weeks. The retail release is no where to be found.

I had a blast playing the demo but $60 is too pricey for an online only game with only a few modes of play and only 12 maps, the content just doesn't seem to justify the price.

This should have been a $40 game to start with.

Even $40 is kind of high. The game only has NINE maps, and I don't care how flexible the gameplay is - nine maps is a joke. UT2k4 had like fifty, and more than nine of those were worth playing - more like more than half.

I would pay whatever they wanted for this game. All 9 maps are awesome, and extremely deep. Many distinct play-styles, all perfectly balanced. It is a quality vs. quantity issue. That said, if you don't like multiplayer you won't get .02 worth of play...

I cannot stress the depths of the maps enough... most FPS I play have a few decent maps but always have predictable bottleneck areas. In Shadowrun, half of the abilities are about changing the way you and others can move through the map, so they change dynamically every round of every game.

Shadowrun convinced four of my friends to buy 360s... so I guess they were willing to pay $460 for it. I only wish it was $40 so you guys would buy it as well!

Maybe I should start a Shadowrun thread where I can give you the in-depth fanboy gospels before I hijack this one...

😕 It's number 10, right after the demo...

Xbox 360 Top Live Titles (UU?s)
1 Gears of War
2 Forza Motorsport 2
3 Tom Clancy's Rainbow Six® Vegas
4 Guitar Hero II
5 Call Of Duty 3
6 Oblivion
7 GRAW 2
8 Crackdown
9 Shadowrun Demo
10 Shadowrun

How many maps do people actually play in Counter Strike (PC) or Halo 2 (Xbox/360)? Battlefield 2 shipped with only 12 maps. It seemed like more because they would scale for the number of players, but I don't remember many people bitching about only 12. How many different modes of play are there in CS of BF2?

Shadowrun is a brilliant game. You just have to give it a chance. It is like no other FPS out there. Once you start playing with all of the magic/tech options, no two rounds ever play the same. I agree that the price is too high for a lot of people, and that being Vista only on PC has pretty much killed cross platform sales. Personally I can't get enough, and to me it's worth every penny.

Ah, I see. But still, for the week of 6/18 Shadowrun was #10, although the demo was #5. Not exactly "no where to be found".

If anything, I don't think the conclusion necessary follows from that data, especially now given the most recent chart.
