The point is that the man is old enough and should be mature enough how to handle disappointment. This isn't about race, it's about an individual not knowing how to behave. Kind of like when that guy from Rage climbed on top of that prop to protest not winning some award a few years back.

And from a purely pragmatic standpoint, it is stupid for celebrities to make partisan comments about politics because they're potentially alienating 50% of their audience. With Kanye's finances in such a precarious situation because of this album, I'm seriously questioning his judgment. But I guess any backlash he receives is worth it just so he could tell America he thinks Bush doesn't care about black people.

So one dude makes an entire race get judged?

Tom Cruise is batsh1t crazy. Damn now I'm worried people will think white people are psycho :Q

Really stupid point on your part.

Tom Cruise is not race-baiting... Kanye is.

No wonder so many old timers think you are retarded. :p

Where does he say he is $600k in debt because of the album? My first impression after hearing that is that he spent his own money to produce the album. Common sense would dictate that once the album went on sale, he is recouping that loss. It's called operating cost.

somebody thinks they are just alittle better than they are. i mean the only logical explanation for him not winning EVERY award is because of the all the racism in rap music.

A little better than they are? The difference between what he thinks he is and what he REALLY is, is epic -and not in the good direction.

Kanye West doesn't care about black people.

Why else would he make music that perpetuates the ignorant hip hop culture?

$600k in the hole with this album, yes. His next babbling is that people love his music. If people love his music, why is he $600k in the hole?

I'm pretty sure it sold over 3.2 million copies in 21 weeks. Dunno where its at now though

They make a large chunk of their money of Touring and concerts. Just look at 50 cent in that Bat Mitzfah thread.

Kanye is a pretty decent performer though, I enjoyed his concert this past weekend more than I thought I would.

Watch the video. He said he LOST money on his latest album. He's not making squat.

Also, it's not even "his" music. He samples nearly everything. He's a thief and his music sucks.

He must give a crap if he's so rilled up about winning the awards mentioned in the video.

Kanye = 0 for 3.

his music sucks, in your opinion.

Late Registration is still #10 on the R&B charts, and it's been there for 15 weeks.

don't get me wrong, i don't like the guy personally - people like his music though. the sampling thing is irrelevant; sampling is quite prevalent in the genre.

1. No, his music sucks, FACT, period.

2. Don't care what it is on ANY chart, he's not making any money off it.

3. Sampling is prevalent in the genre because talent is not.

I saw his rant on TV - yes I was watching the show - the R.Kelly thing in the pool was worth watching anyway....and J.Pressley was there....

but I digress.

I can't name one song the guy sings - yes I don't listen to the radio - at all - but his rant was one of the least intelligent or coherent things of it's type of ever seen.

figure tops he's making a quarter an album sold. College Dropout sold ummm let's say 3 million copies. Then he has to pay all his laywer fees, and I'm guessing with the amount of samples he uses he paid out the ass for sample clearances. Seeing how he owns one Neckless from Jacob The Jeweler that was over $200,000 it's not hard to see why he's in the hole :)

and by the way, $600k in the hole?! holy crap, how much is he paying for sample clearance/promotion?! isnt def jam/roc-a-fella footing any of that bill? methink's he's exaggerating that number just a tad.

lables don't foot any bills, they give you advances. You end up payin every penny back. He even paid for his videos. Artists can sell millions and still be broke. Between Label's, ASCAP and RIAA an Artist has to tour or get a side job to survive :)
