Clearing the BIOS password on a laptop?

Bateluer

Lifer
Can it be cleared the same way a desktop BIOS's pwd can be cleared, by poping the battery? If so, where is the battery usually located? Or is it stored in Flash ROM?

well it needs some sort of power to keep that info stored, I would take off the keybord and see if I could see a battery in there, if not I would take the rest of the case off and find the cmos battery, and take it out for a min or so while the sys battery is out and the ac adapter is unplugged.

Laptops are more or less the same as desktops and yes they have cmos batteries... 😉 As "DaiShan" said you will have to take it apart to find the cmos battery or possibly go to the manufactures site and maybe find info on how to reset it another way...?
