Clearing out gmail?

I'm at 94% of my capacity on gmail and want to clear stuff out...doesn't look like google lets you sort by attachment size or anything, so I was thinking of setting up an IMAP link in outlook/thunderbird which should let me sort by attachment size and clear out anything huge--any other tips?

That's what I'd do. In fact, that's what I do by default. I don't like using webmail, and have used Thunderbird for years.

Trimming out the cruft should help reduce your profile to Google, though the damage is already done. No point in saving crap just to save it. It won't get any smaller, and it sounds like it's already approaching unmanageable. 10gb is a crap load of mail.

Seems they keep increasing the amount of free storage you get, it's at 10GB now. I remember it being 7 or 8GB before. I'm at 22% usage, and I only delete spam and any newsletters I get that aren't interesting enough to keep. I have so much useless mail that I didn't delete, but I don't bother cleaning it up since I'm lazy and there's so much space.

hmmmm you're right...i see where you can specify if an attachment exists, but not to sort by size....yeah, i'd do IMAP.

wow how'd you reach the limit?

The filtering/labelling tools in gmail are excellent. You should really have it all nice and neat 😀

Wow! I am at 2% o fuse, and have had my account for 6 years on there.

But, I always have been good about emails that need to be kept.

I keep my inbox the same way, If it is current on the board for work, it sits in the inbox. If it has been completed and doesn't need to be archived, deleted.

No need to add value to an email that doesn't have any.
