Went to Walmart.
Entered the TV area.
Saw the plasmas.
Saw a Sanyo with a clearance sticker.
A little closer.
Yup. 42".
Yup. Vizzon.
Heart's beating a little faster.
Yup. $1399.
Preparing to thank the Hot Deals Gods.
Then I notice.
Oh, no! NOT HD.
ED
Sigh. :brokenheart:

pffft ahahah

Are you getting those crazy deals for being an employee or is that what they were listed for at yours??

I'm going have to check some out in the next day or two for any random computer/electronics goodies that's cheap!!

You won't. I picked it up today, still 2 left on the shelf in Belvidere. IL. I went to check out and they said, "sorry 69.98", I replied "shelf tag says $54.00". I got one for $54, they pitched the shelf sticker in the same breath.

I got home, checked the rebate and Wal-Mart is not a qualified retailer:

Check the list of retailers - Wal-Mart is not listed.

I'm still tempted to keep it at $54, seems like a good drive with a complete version of Nero 6.6.

well.. i think its kinda pricy for $54+tax. i'd get it for 30AR.. i don't like sony drives. bought two, its not superb than others. just ok.

"I'm still tempted to keep it at $54, seems like a good drive with a complete version of Nero 6.6."

its a version of nero that only works with sony flashed drives
but otoh, showtime does actually play dvds unlike nero oem from microadvantage and mad dog
dru-800a is lite-on, dru-810a is benq 1640 (i think -- it's definitely a benq though)

"Are you getting those crazy deals for being an employee or is that what they were listed for at yours??"

maybe his area got it like that or he's an incredibly astute shopper
he usually finds all sorts of ymmv deals best buy compusa, etc

"Picked up a couple of Pelican 2.4ghz Wireless XBOX controllers for $5 each at the Walmart at 1460 Golf Road,Rolling Meadows, IL."

keep us posted on how they work out. the dreamcast ones i bought for the same price triggers broke within weeks

Important note on Walmart clearence

the prices are set at the store level. The Sotre gets a certain number of "clearence dollars" and they can use them to cheapen stuff up. Hopefully The one near my work has some of these deals. I am going to check it out after I leave.

I picked up two 160 Seagate Pata 8 meg cache 5 year warranty hard drives for $50 each. I bought the last two and later bought out the last two Lightscribe HP740i dual layer DVD burners for $40 each. Again I bought out the last two(everything sold was a close out) and they were all purchased at Walmart in Milpitas, Calif. They had about five Seagate 80 gig Pata hard drives for $40 each but I have purchased enough hard drives already.

Walmart in Cedar Hill, Tx -- Picked up a Panasonic Lumix LZ2 Digital Camera with 5 megapixels, 6X Optical Zoom, and Mega Image Stabilizer for $120. Reviews say it's a really decent camera. First few shots out of the box were awesome. Not bad for 6X Optical.

TKS for the heads up In Dundee IL I found

80 Gig Seagate Internal 7200 Drives ATA 100 $30.00 got two
Lite-On 16X DVD Reader $25.00 Not a great Price but I needed one quick
128 Cd organizer $3.00

Wow you have 3 walmarts next to you. =P

I have 6 Wal Marts (and 2 Sam's Clubs) within 10 miles of my home. Extend the range to 30 miles, and I have 12 Wal Marts and 2 Sam's Clubs! This is in the area of Huntsville, Alabama.

I've got one walmart about 10 miles away... 20 within 30 miles, but i don't go to any of them. Funny how 10 miles was nothing at my old rural home, but here in the DC metro i won't go more than 5.

picked up a hp 740e external burner over at fremont for 40 bucks. It in a box full of misc items by the photo center.
