I say we organize a day and time where everyone just starts downloading a whole bunch of crap.

Who's with me?

The all you can eat model is over. It costs the provider too much money. 3 gigabytes per day is indeed excessive.

so i reset my log when i read your post which was around 1130 AM on saturday. now just over 12 hours later ive used 1.4 GB down and 75 megs up. 2 youtube videos 1 show on HD nation, normal browsing and a few hours of gaming. ZERO torrents and ZERO downloads in general

3gb in a day is is very very far from excessive,

Did you have the regular Clear service or Clear 4G?

I've been a Clear customer on two different occasions. The first time I had their regular service (3G?) and I got throttled heavily as well. It would get to the point where I couldn't watch streaming video because I wasn't getting enough bandwidth. Other than the throttling (which makes it unacceptable for me as an only Internet connection) I found the convenience of being able to use it anywhere pretty awesome.

I ended up coming to the conclusion that it's a good service if you want to use Internet on the go, but is a terrible home replacement.

This was a few years ago, fast forward to today and I'm a Clear 4G customer and I'm very happy with it. I get service everywhere in my city and can use my laptop or iPod anywhere and have Internet. Speeds are good at 2-10mbps depending on how much signal I have (but almost always 5mbps). I haven't had any throttling while on 4G and this is very close to being good enough as an only connection. In the past few months I've been using 95% clear and 5% time warner.

Interesting. I have one of their wireless hotspots, I wonder if it identifies differently on the network since its made to be a hub of multiple devices.
