i got my rear bumper replaced from an accident and the insurence will pay for blending now since the first color didnt match to good but they wont clear coat the entire car. just the part they are painting to blend.

but my concern is that the stuff that will get the new clear coat wont match the other part of the car. soo im not sure if i want to blend it or just leave it as is.

It should be fine, they wouldn't clearcoat the whole car because that would be unneccesary. To clear the whole car it would cost a ton of money, but clear doesn't really affect the color so you shouldn't be worried.

Doesn't affect the color, but it certainly DOES affect the appearance...more glossy, y'know. Since I assume that his car came with a factory clearcoat, it shouldn't be obvious, but if he's got a black car I'm sure you'll be able to tell in the right light.

Of course they're not going to pay to clear coat your entire car just because a rear bumper is being replaced. It doesn't make sense. I would go ahead and get it blended.

BTW, it will probably never be perfect no matter what you have done unless you start over and have your entire car repainted.

if its blended properly, you will not be able to tell....hence the word "blend"..:)

They will/should paint, clearcoat, wetsand and buff the area until its not noticeable at all......if its done right, it should look like the rest of the area and stay that way...

Almost all shops will blend an area rather than paint the whole panel...it just makes more sense

if its an older vehicle, they will blend down both sides and possibly up the trunk panel, so that the new paint will not contrast with the original paint......

don't worry, its gonna be fine..:)
