They scratch easy, and are a pain to keep clean.
I wouldn't worry about heat though, it isn't like your case acts like a big heatsink.
 
Yeah... pass on the acrylic... i'll look like crap after a ahwile. Plus it doesn't shield your PC from EM of any type... hard to work with too. I'd go for one of those new Lian-Li cases tho with the grill looking front.
