clear care contact solution

lol... my buddy was going to school one day and had a problem with his contacts. He knew that i had contacts too so he came over to use my solution, but i was still sleeping. He had no idea what clear care was and just squirted it in both eyes, dunno how he didn't realize something was wrong after the first one.

I wake up to him pounding on my door asking me what the freak is in that stuff. We called their telephone # and they just said keep splashing water on it and using regular eye drops and it'll go away

what were you gonna say? it stung quite a bit. the redness is gone now, but it still feels weird.
It doesn't matter, I thought the solution was for RGP, not soft.

Sounds like a winner.

Uhhh, contact slution is what you use to clean your contacts, so when you put contacts in your eyes your bound to get at least a little bit in your eyes right? So I dont see how it could be harmful. Am I not seeing something?

The Clear Care solution contains, among other ingredients, hydrogen peroxide, which has to be converted to water by reaction with a metal catalyst in the lens case.

Well the multipurpose stuff that I use is safe and doesn't have any effect when you squirt it directly into your eyes.

What is this clear care stuff anyway? Is it better than the No-Rub Multipurpose stuff?

Clear care is the solution used in a lens-cleaning system. The solution reacts with an element that is inside the contact case and it creates a bubbling effect.

It says right on the bottle that you should not put it directly in your eyes. The tip of the bottle is also red.

Does that stuff work better than regular solution?

I think it's the same stuff I used years ago. The stuff with the little black sprocket (which has to be replaced regularly) suspended below a "cage" that your contacts go in. You squirt the solution into a bottle and then you submerge the cage/sprocket assembly in the solution. It bubbles for a few hours and then you can wear your contacts again.

I recall it working just fine, but if you don't wait long enough before using your contacts then it burns like hell. I totally prefer the multipurpose solution.

🙂 Just know that your eye isn't going to fall out. Eventually the reaction stops and it becomes saline solution.

I personally prefer the Clear Care solution over no-rub solutions since my contacts felt cleaner with the Clear Care. Costco should have two-bottle packs (with a lens cage) for $12 compared to $8-9 for a single bottle at most supermarkets.
