Already done. There was one going around that used the blaster exploit, and then patched the blaster hole and deleted itself.

well mr. eyewing...you did not change the oil in your car at exactly 3000 miles so i have taken it upon myself to make it so your car ceases to run in a week....permanently..so get your affairs in order....you have a week.

well mr. eyewing...you did not adhere to the diet i set for you so as your doctor i have injected a poison into your body to kill you within a week ..so get your affairs in order and bid your family and freinds a heart farewell.

Just because you and i are tech saavy does not mean everyone else is or should be....

It's not an issue of tech saavy - it's an issue of degrading the experience for others. Every unpatched machine is a machine that will eventually be used for somthing which may have no real effect on the end user, whose falt it is that this is going on in the first place - DDoS drones, for example. Is Joe Consumer affected? Not really. But someone else is. But if you hit on Joe Consumer (Especially Joe Consumer's wallet), he'll learn pretty quick.

This is why we have automobile insurance, and why many states require it.

Except Welchia(the anti-worm worm in question) didn't work exactly like it should have. Yes, it fixed the hole, but then it went searching for more hosts to fix, so it caused the same basic problem Blaster did, which is insane bandwidth consumption.

How many people would be out of work if the "idiots" were eliminated from the internet? Just something to consider.
