Cleaning up overflowing toilets just isn't very fun

What is it with all of you with poor plumbing? I hope you're renting. If you're buying find a professional to fix it right.

Edit: If you're stopping up a 4" drain, then there's no hope for you. Get an out house.

One of my toilets had something stuck in it for a couple of weeks. Every time I thought I had it cleared out, it would start to overflow again. I FINALLY got the damn thing cleared last week but you had to clean one overflow up - I cleaned about 5 or 6 of them. I was tempted to remove it and find exactly what was stopping it up so I could blame the right kid for it.

Do you have a low flow toilet? The place I moved into has an incredibly low flow one and the way it's designed, it's really easy to plug up. I know it's a gross subject. Sometimes being too eco-friendly, can cause real headaches.

I have a two mode toilet. If you move the handle forwards you get a strong flush that uses a lot of water. Moving the handle backwards does a half flush. I've haven't had a problem clogging it yet.

Has never happened to me. A toilet when properly set up will not, even if clogged, overfill the bowl with a single tank worth of water, so worse case the water rises almost to the top of the bowl and stops. If you are "smart enough" to flush it at that point, yeah sh*t goes everywhere.

Also the regular plunges work an absolute treat for me, they are magical.

The thread would tilt from a borderline banned topic (poo) to something totally NSFW fast. About as fast as dropping a 10kg lump of potassium in a wading pool!

I am becoming more and more convinced that you have ulterior motives for taking a career that places you in international waters for large portions of the year.

Oh I've passed that point a long time ago. Not for the reason of an alkali metal exothermic fanfare but because it's the nature of the beast. Besides one can make serious heat and the sea just laughs at it like a planet sized sponge soaking up decillion after decillion gallon of byproduct. 😉

i think it's hilarious. dirty work has always made me laugh, i find it gross obviously, but there's just something humorous about it.

Way not cool.

Pretty sure that'd be the end of any relationship we could have had. Thankfully, I haven't yet had to pick up my wife's poo. She hasn't clogged our toilets quite yet.

Some ladies will send a tampon down first. That can set up a clog condition.
