Cleaning up CPU

Hope I can get some help with this I just switch to a new CPU and was wondering if it is possible to clean the thermal grease/Tape off the old CPU ?

I've had great luck with both nail polish remover and rubbing alcohol.

Yeah those should work. Just make sure all the rubbing alcohol evaporates before you put on more thermal compound when installing the old CPU in another machine.
