For the life of me, I cant get these fingerprints off my Trinitron monitor. I've tried tissues, paper towels, water, windex(prolly not a good idea) to no avail. Can you guys tell me what you use to clean your monitors. I dont remember regular monitors being this hard to clean. Peace.

hI Soul,
Am having the same problems here,
Bought a SONY CPD-G400 display a few weeks ago. And since, it got a bit dirty, I tried water, Windex... nothing works...

Anyone?

Oleg,

i use this one product magic pure sight lens cleaning towelettes.it cleans computer screens, googles, shields, and glasses after i use it my screen looks brand new,i use it once a week you can buy a pack of like 100 at office depot i think

just use water and cotton cloth. At first it may seem like its not doing anything but when it dries, looks pretty good. It does streak a bit but not too bad... in fact its not too noticable.

I have a 21" FD Trinitron and I use a hint of H20 on a 100% cotton cloth. Polish all of the marks out, and buff it to a high sheen.

I use this stuff called 'Screen Guardian' by Kensington. It is safe for use on anti-glare monitors, and gets pretty much any mark off (hasn't left any so far).

I bought mine at Office Depot.

Hmm i use a small amount of water and a cloth. The small amount is cruical cuz if you use too much, you can't wipe it down faster enough and that leaves a residue/streak/ or whatever on the glass too. So just dab a small amount of water on a tissue and dab the tissue on to your spit circles and then wipe in a circular motion immdediately.

i have a flat screen monitor using the diamondtron tube, everytime my cousin touches my screen to point something out to me, i say "STOP "TOUCHING!" the SCREEN! & then i see the oil from the finger print & i shake my head, now i get some paper & wet it a little & start to wipe it, at 1st it smears it alittle but then it goes away, then i use a vacuum & suck all the dust off the screeen & then it looks brand new. that is sad that you have to see a finger print now on your screen, the finger prints that get on my screen are from others that just don't know better & then i have let them meet to MR. el"BLOW"

john: i have the exact same monitor. i'll make sure to use a "hint" of water.

i wanna go to office/home depot and see what the other fellas are talking about first. I never touch my monitor but I swear my family leaves more fingerprints than a crime scene. one time i came in to my room and found my 9 year old brother and his friend watching Iron Giant on it. I was kewl with that until Cory(my bro's friend) was, how do you say it, fingering my monitor!!!! I was like wtf and wanted to rip his head off but I decided not to. sorry for the violent overtones of this post, just finished watching American Psycho.

I just use some video display cleaner i got from microcenter.. frys probably sells it too. Anti static video display cleaner from perfectdata.

Works just fine on my g400🙂

A clean, well-worn cotton t-shirt, misted with a touch of slightly warm water, and a lot of elbow grease will polish it up nice. Then use canned air to keep it dusted.

BTW, those Sony G400's are quite dirty when they come from the factory. Additionally, it often looks like there is traces of a powdery residue along the edges of the bezels. I suspect this to be the remains of a polishing compound used on the screen surfaces. Whatever, it takes some work to get the Sonys cleaned up. I had one that I swore had a bad spot on the screen, but after several cleanings, I got everything off.

I will have to agree with elfenix, My room mate used windex and his coating is gone. Now he's trying to get the anti-glare back. There's a terrible glare now.

I use the cloth that you use to wipe your eyeglasses clean, no water necessary unless there's a stubborn spot.

I just got a Hitachi 21" , and the care instructions said you may use alchohol based cleaners, but not AMMONIA based cleaners( Windex).

hey all these threads seem cyclic somehow..

anyway, i use "office depot screencleaner", it doesn't have a list of ingredients, but it claims to be safe for notebook, antiglare, and polarized screens
