Cleaning the clothes dryer lint filter

A heated family argument. Do you check the lint filter on your clothes dryer before you turn the machine on to dry a load of clothes (which I do, because I think it's the only way to make sure that it is cleaned before each use), or do you check it when you take a completed load of clothes out of the dryer (as the rest of my family does), or do you check it both times?

I guess as long as you're checking it, it shouldn't be a big deal either way.

After a load has finished drying, I always use the softener sheet to clean the lint filter.

Well in my experience, a load can either be a Lump or a Splash.

Always after. Sometimes 2 loads= extra lint!

After a load? If there is no TP and you have lint....... It's better than your hand!

Uh...does it really matter? The one in my drier looks like it can take a couple of loads without needing to be cleaned, so as long as you do it sometime you're fine.

Anyway, I usually do it after I'm done, but if multiple people use the drier I'd just always check before, if it really bothered me.

In any case, clean the lint trap before putting laundry in, so that the moist air has an easy path to escape.

Don't let the little stuffs break the marriage. I check/clean before, and clean right after.

before if others are using it. lint reduces efficiency. best to make sure its not reducing air flow.

Wouldn't it ultimately be the same thing? You're clearing it before the next load starts either way.

I always check before I use it to make sure others have cleaned it out, but I always clean it after I run a load through it.
