Cleaning stuffed animals question

Gund says that you should use their surface cleaner only. Well that stuff doesnt work well. I asked dry cleaners and they said the chemicals will stay in the animal and is not good for humans to have contact with....

On the net they say to throw the animal into a pillowcase tie the end and throw in washing machine. Well the animal I want to clean has a weird nose. If it gets scuffed it is permanent. It is like a velvety material. Anyways, How would I go about protecting the nose if I dunk him into the washing machine?

Might want to try some laundry detergent and a moist rag then buff it up with a clean dry towel.

I was under the impression that the pillow case is to prevent the nose and eyes from getting nicked up.
I can tell you flat out, DON'T put the thing in the drier. My exgf did that do a Gund "Jabba" monkey and the poor guy came out with afroish fur. He actually looked kinda cute, but I guess the ends of the hairs were singed and melted so they felt really rough.

I tried some spray cleaner that was supposed to be safe for all fabrics. It nearly matted the fur. It took a lot of effort to get the fur straight again. A friend of mine washed her bear in the washing machine and she has tons of kids playing with it. I think one even threw up spinach on this white bear and amazingly he looks brand new....

Well this bear has plastic pellets in his ass. (Don't ask I assume its to keep him sitting up right). That would prolly melt in the dryer, unless it was fluff air....

the guy said if the animal is going to be around children the fumes might upset allergies or the fumes just might be toxic.
