cleaning lcd screen

there are a bunch of sticky dots on my lcd screen that i think came from someone opening a soda and it spraying onto the screen some. I tried taking a cloth and a tiny bit of water, but it makes kinda smears on the screen, anyone have advice.
 
i know there were be tons of stupid semen jokes, but does anyone have a legitimate suggestion that could in some way be interpreted as somewhat useful
 
I dont have lint free clothes, but i do have some really old undershirts that are nice and soft and seem pretty clean. The problem with the water was it seemed to leave some sort of smear on the covering of the lcd that shows up against black backrounds. Looks like when you do a bad job of windexing a window and get some kinda streaky, smeary stuff
 
dont use anything but 100% cotton if you are going to use an article of clothing to wipe it off. you will regret it if you use anything but pure cotton.

just make sure you have a soft cloth or paper towel that wont scratch. dampen it and keep wiping back and forth, without any pressure at all. itll come off, eventually. i just cleaned mine after reading this thread, and that worked for me.
 
I would keep up w/ the water. After a few tries the smears will be gone. I usually use a sock and some water and it keeps my monitors pretty clean.

paper towels = instant scratches. the only thing worse would be sand paper.

i just used one. they sell soft ones that arent stiff like normal paper towels. i have zero scraches on my screen. im 100% sure, and just double checked.
 
i use either water or rubbing alcohol with toilet paper, works great. u just gotta spend some time cleaning it

I think toilet paper has the potential to scratch an LCD screen.
