Cleaning Hard Drive for new install of windows

Does anyone know how to clean a hard drive to prepare your hard drive for a new installation of windows? or can anyone point me to a site talking about it? thanks in advance for your responses

if you're installing windows xp then just put the cd in your drive, and boot from the cd....from there you can install windows over your current drive (juts make sure you format it when it asks you to).

If you're paranoid like me, check the website of your hard drive's vendor for a program that you can run from a boot floppy to overwrite the hard drive with zeroes.

That doesn't do anything but waste time, you'd need to overwrite them like 50 times to make the data as close to unrecoverable as possible without burning the platters.
