Cleaning an LCD

I have an LCD monitor and there are lots of smudges, dust, and assorted other crap on it. What would be the best way to clean it off? Should I just use a damp rag or will that hurt it. Thanks for any suggestions.

Use a good quality microfiber towel. Most of the time you don't even have to use a cleaning agent with it. No scratches, and its great for your CDs and DVDs too!

I think most products of this type use isopropyl alcohol as the active ingredient. Also known as Rubbing Alcohol you can buy it ultra cheap at Walmart or any supermarket /drugstore. I have used one by Endust and when the cleaning towels started to get too dry I just added a splash of alcohol and away it went. Cuts the cheese and no streaking.
