Cleaning a LCD glossy monitor

Microfiber cloth or a soft tissue damp with distilled water (hard water is usually fine).

A tissue like a tissue you blow your nose in?

Sure. I just clean my glossy panel with hard water and Kleenex. It's always been fairly squeeky clean although I bet you could achieve better results with very thin cloth and soft water.

I have cats. They are always going against the end of the screen with their face putting cat hair on the screen 🙁

I was reading that you should turn off your lcd monitor before cleaning it is this true ? If so how long should it be off for before cleaning it and how long should you keep it off after cleaning it please?

I don't want to really have to turn off my whole system. If I have to or should I will turn of my monitor with the remote! I love the remote with the nec monitor! Best idea NEC has ever come up with!

Yeah turning it off is a good idea just because water can damage electrical components. I think you should be able to start cleaning immediately after turning the LCD off. There's no reason you should have to turn off your PC.

Thanks!

IMHO, when cleaning and shining ANY plastic items... whether it's the fenders on your dirt bike, or a "LCD glossy monitor"...

You cannot beat good ol' Pledge furniture polish -=- NOT an 'extra moisturizing' offshoot with lemon oil or a Pledge clone from the 99-cent store!

If it's made for furniture, you can bet it won't scratch plastic! 😀

BTW, thanks for bringing this subject to mind! 🙂

I've been looking through sputum, fingerprints, and taco sauce splatter for a while now, but was too lazy to polish my monitor.

This is what I used along with a single sheet of Bounty. I *feel* like a Merry Maid now! Maybe I'll go do the microwave...

Jeepers, Wally!

I forgot how nice this Dell looks when it's (ahem) Clean & Shiney... 😀

I have found that using a babywipe (if you have kids) is the best. I thoroughly rinse it of the solution they have them in and ring as much of the water as I can and then just wipe down and dry with a dish cloth. The wipes are lint free so it gets the job done.

Monster Cleaner.

Seriously.

I think i've seen this same question asked 200 times over the years i've been on AT, & everyone who uses Monster Cleaner agrees it's fantastic.

Yes, i personally use it. No, i don't recommend Monster cables, but their cleaner = teh bestest.

I have no clue what's in it TBH, but i've yet to see a cleaner that works as well for displays, whether it be a TV, LCD, preview LCD on cameras, cell phone LCDs, etc.

Seconded. Monster Cleaner really does work well. I use it on all of my LCDs.
