I just use a wet cotton cloth, like a T-Shirt, with a small amount of mild dishwashing soap. Then lightly wipe the screen and then go over it again with a new cotton cloth dabbed in clean water. Gently wipe away the streaks and I'm done. My Viewsonic is about 4 years old and still looks perfect. No way would I use glass cleaner.

I never used newspaper. It's good for producing a clean finish due to the heavy wood pulp, but while the wood fibers clean well they also leave microscopic scratches that progressivly worsen the finish over time.

Don't forget that a lot of house windows have various coatings these days (low-E and so on). I find it hard to believe that Windex would sell a product that couldn't do what it was specifically designed and marketed to do on a lot of products on which it is advertised that it does such a thing.

Ive been using plain old windex and a bounty on my 21" trinitron flat screen crt for years and have had no problems with the glare screen wiping off or such. Arent the anti-glare crap on the inside of screen anyway? My screen is smooth as the day I bought it and it is anti-glare (I looked up the model) and I believe its on the inside and not the outside. I recommend the OP look up the specs of the monitor and find out.

Once again..in my statement..I said the Viniger formula not the Ammonia formula...its the Ammonia that is damaging to the surface finish.

I tried 90% alcohol... -Don't do it Cap'n-

Windex absolutely worked great. No streaks, no residue.

Do they still sell the ammonia Windex? I have a very [ten year?] old bottle
that says ammonia free, I guess they 'figured it out' it doesn't sell
and is harmful a long time ago. But the new Windex I actually used was prolly
a bit more advanced, worked great. [For laptop cleaning also.]

Used a microfiber 'disc cleaner' cloth which cleans particles/dust off quite well.
[Windex for the smudges.] And yes you can reuse those, in reply to the question.
Works well on CRT TVs also.

Yes, standard blue windex formula contains ammonia-d. I use the Windex Multi-Surface cleaner that uses vinegar instead. I've also used their Windex automobile surface cleaner since that uses vinegar as well.

I do enjoy my 100% intact anti-glare coating :)

I just use simple soap and water on a damp rag. And then dry it with a rag. I've found it to work the best.

microfiber is just a type of cotton. You can just put it in with your laundry to wash it every couple weeks or month or so.
