Clean XP PRO install??

Sister has a dell laptop that is about 1.5 years old. She had been running a pirate version of XP Pro. She is having computer problems. Wife is faculty at a hospital and was able to get XP PRO for 30 bucks.

I am going to my sister's house this weekend. For Christmas I got her a 500 gig external hard drive so she has all her data backed up.

I want to do a clean install (wipe her hard drive clean) and load the new legal XP PRO.

So my question is.......... How the heck do I do that?

Just just boot from the legal CD and do a normal install using full format and the legal Key. Should be no big deal. You also can try a repair install using the legal CD and keep all here programs and settings intact. Just enter the new key when asked. Since the PC has been running on the same install for over a year a clean install would be a nice clean up anyway.

wow thats a nice guide. It should help many people who get lost during the install.
