I just posted an article on how to clean up the inside of your case because I have seen a lot of people asking about how people get the inside of their cases looking so nice. Link

Good reading, but I always thought that people's cases were messy because they were lazy, not because they didn't know how :D

Punk,

Good article. I was also looking at your "Make your Antec PSU quiet by changing the fan" article and was curious, what's the difference between the two fans (noise, air flow, speed control, etc.)? I just ordered a SX1030b retail with a 300w and I'm just curious.

Thanks! -JC

Good article.
FlowerMan has a point though, at least my case is messy because I'm lazy, not because I don't know how to make it more tidy.

looks ok in that case...still to many wires/looms all over the place.....i would have to say mine is better...im not being an ass here so please dont take me wrong :D ...it just looks much better if you can get everything (well as much as possible) out of view...behind your mobo, above your cd, or behind your mobo tray...the less you see the better

SnowPunk,

good article. I was also reading the Antec quite PSU article because I am planning on silencing my machine (Antec KS-180 case http://www.onepc.net/reviews/0005/), and I have been considering whether or not that project will include my replacing of the PSU fan or not.

My question is, regarding the capacitors/danger, i mean, exactly how risky is it? I mean, I'd like a quiet machine, but I'd also like to be alive to hear how quiet it is! ;) Is there any way to decrease the risk? Like will the charge dissipate if I leave the PSU unpowered/unplugged for a day or so? Am I worrying too much about this? I just don't wanna get fried, that's all.

hudster: what I did was unplug it and press the power button, your system should flare up and not start. I have heard this disapates power but I dont know how correct that is. As long as you pay attention to what you are doing you should be fine, everything you mess with is pretty out in the open.

dakata24: I picked mine up at a local electronics store, ive seen it at radio shack, FRYs electronics, and some car audio places. If you cant find any CaseEtc has lots in many colors

Fry's carries tons of split looms, heatshrink, colored heatshrink. When I get my new case I'm gonna pick up some of the goodness and make my case look nice. Then...new colored LED time. And window mod time. And cold cathode time. Mmm...need my money.. NOW! :D

For those w/o a Fry's nearby, you can mailorder splitloom at All Electronics for pretty cheap in various diameters. Shipping is a flat $6/order. Since I use this stuff a lot, I buy in 100' bulk from All Electronics. For the medium diameters (most useful in a case) cost runs about $12-18 for 100'.

which is easier to use, heatshrink (is that the stuff that fry's, er.. retailers use to shrinkrap stuff peoople return and sell as new.. j/k... well my ex-gf worked at OD and that's what they did..) or the split looms for a simpleton like myself?

heatshrink is totally diffrent, its used for insulation of bare wire like at solder points. Split loom is the type of tubing you want
