Clean heatsink?

I built my pc about 9 months ago. I was wondering if i should clean the heatsink? My temps seem a little high even at stock speeds. I cant over clock that much cuz it overheats to easy. Also, what do u think a good heatsink for overclocking would be. I have a athlon xp 3000 333mhz.

ok.... good sink for OCing.. almost anything thermalright makes for socket A will do the trick. However I do know the ThermalTake volcano 7 is very reliable. as are some of the Zalman flower looking coolers.

I'm sure Thermalright offers an Athlon XP compatible HS that's similar in design to the XP-90 & 120.

You need the Thermalright SI-97 with a nice 92mm Panaflo. Absolutely love mine keeps my overclocked mobile nice and cool.

In answer to your first question, I would say yes, it is a good idea to keep the heat sink clean. I use a dust buster, which has a narrow tip. You also need to clean the blades of the fan. The dust buster does that too.

Always, take ESD precautions.
