Its been done to airline movies for years. :)

<< legally right or wrong, those people are going to get sued bigtime. >>

Why would they get sued for editing a movie?

Yeah. How many F-words have YOU heard on TNT, TNN, TBS, and every other cable station that shows EDITED R-Rated movies?

If it's for your personal use and you want it edited, I don't think there's a problem with that (it's your video, you own it, you can do what you want with it). However, the site mentions putting the movies in video stores, which is intent to resell (or rent, or otherwise make a profit), which is trickier. They mention a "dealer information packet", but somehow I doubt they have any permission whatsoever from the copyright holders to modify these movies if the intent is to resell them.

What's wrong with that? A friend of mine has one of those "v-chip" televisions that pre-screens language and such and filters it out. It was funny to watch "What Women Want" when Mel Gibson is talking about sex. On her TV, you hear "hugs" in place of "sex"

I thought it was annoying at first, but it got to the point where it was downright funny when we kept hearing it. :D

wish i would have thought of something like that for Utah...talk about a BOOMING business up there!!! i heard about this a few months ago....i think it is dumb, but i'm not mormon so to each his own. Still would be a great business to open in that area...talk about getting rich quick. and staying rich for a LONG time.

Probably less than that, you'd see her hitch-hiking, getting picked up, & then hitch-hiking again.

Hey, when I was living in Utah (I'm Mormon), the local TV station broadcasted an edited version of Pulp Fiction. No f-words whatsoever, and it was still understandable, believe it or not. ;) I wouldn't hold anything past 'em!

Yeah, but at least they say it's for kids. That and they're not actually EDITTING the films, just giving a thorough warning. :p

Agreed, but some of the things to which they bring attention are rather funny. For example, Snow Dogs, a family film, had the following items mentioned:

thin ice peril
punk dress

They "advise" parents of these things so they can decide whether or not to let the kiddies see them. Not a bad thing to do, but they do carry it to the extreme at times (see above). Can't have the kiddies seeing "thin ice peril" :)

anyone notice "patriot" and "Gladiator" on that front page? Just how would one be able to edit out the violence in those movies?

Just make the fight sequences a blurry mess with some *pow* and *whack* ala the old Batman. :D

Well, if they edit out the violence from movies like the Patriot, Gladiator and SPR, you'll only have to sit there for about 30 minutes to watch the whole thing... :)

I wonder how they'd do something like Die Hard, where Bruce Willis is a bloody mess for the last half hour of the movie. You can't just blur it out or cut the scenes with him in it.
