Clawhammer

And this from the same article: AMD is developing its own chipsets to accompany Clawhammer, he said. However, the company will also license them to third-party chipset makers

One of AMD's biggest problem in the past has been buggy chipsets from VIA et al, in comaprison to Intel with the rock solid BX. A chipset developed by AMD but widely available (AMD has never had their heart in maufacturing a $15 chipset, no $$ in it) via a licensing agreement has go to help.

Yeah, it was supposed to start shipping (in limited quantities) at the end of this year, and is now postponed to the 2nd half of '02 🙁

I agree with you about the chipsets, JimMc. I've never been a huge fan of VIA. It always seemed fitting that they would be the ones to buy the ailing Cyrix chip designs.

(And, yes, I do have a VIA chipset on my motherboard, and yes, it works just fine. Now. After about 3 million motherboard driver revisions.)
