Clawhammer overclocks

So I've finally had some time and I got some new RAM and I ended up overclocking my S754 3000+ to 2.4GHz (300x8) at 1.6v, stable as can be. Now the interesting thing is that this is a Clawhammer core (according to CPU-Z and SANDRA), so I'm guessing it's a neutered 1MB chip (man, I wish there was someway of opening up the cache). However, it is a CG revision. My question is, what are other people getting for overclocks? Topping out, this chip can do 2.44 @ 1.7v, and can boot into windows up to 2.51GHz (@1.7v). Anyone wanna compare or know a good place for comparisons? Thanks!

i had a C0 that did 2700 on water so i wouldn't say CG is neccessarily better. Also, CG defaults to 2T memory timings so make sure you've set it to 1T or you will take a serious perfomrance hit.

your not oldschool
My mhz 6x86MX@208 MHz , i even put a heatsink on it!
Have you ever used goldfingers?

Anyways thats very good, my 3400 CG couldnt go past a 5% overclock on 1.6V

Lol, well, it's Old School compared to the Winchesters that are the rage today 😛. Eshbach, what PR rating was your C0, a 3700+? I heard those overclocked very well.

Hmm... So you guys think my 3400+ 1mb clawhammer will get me anywhere OC'ing, at the moment I have a non PCI/AGP lock board so can't test, but if it'll be worth my while I may spend some cash and see where it'll go.

You can overlock anything. Some CPU's have more gains then others is all.

Yes you can overclock your 3400+. Make sure you know what you're doing and be careful. Head on over to overclockers.com.

I know I can and I know how, I'm asking if the C0 clawhammers are capable of making a worthy OC... Gotta love those goldfingers on my old slot athlon 700 😀

I've have two Clawhammers. One is a 1 1/2 year old nuetered CO core 3000+ that does 2.5ghz stable at 1.78v on water cooling, but have running 2.4ghz at 1.65v on air on a daily basis. The other is a DTR 3000+ that will do 2.81ghz stable at 1.75v with my watercooling, but it is a CG core and not a CO.

I personally like the DFI LanpartyUT 250GB motherboard for socket 754 because of it's overclocking flexability. Lots of bios options to play with.

Wow, people are getting some pretty great overclocks :Q
Yah, this thing just isn't stable at 2.5GHz, which is a little upsetting, seeing how at 2.4GHz and 1.6v it loads at 38C atm. Ah well, I can always try more settings. What DIMM's and LDT multis are you guys using? My comp won't boot overclocked unless I use DIMM 1 and 3, and 3x LDT works the best for me 😕
