Correction, SledgeHammer is slated for Q1 2003.

Both the ClawHammer (1-2 way desktop/workstation processor) and SledgeHammer (2-8 way server processor) will support PC2700, PC2100, and PC1600 DDR DRAM. ClawHammer will utilize only single channel (64-bit) technology, whereas SledgeHammer will have a dual channel interface (128-bit) in addition to twice the L2 cache as ClawHammer (supposedly 1024K for SledgeHammer versus 512K for ClawHammer).

Can you use a Sledgehammer with a desktop? I mean can you use a server CPU with a desktop or does it have to be a server? Do you have to have a specialized mobo and everything else to run it thus making it a server? wait a minute, i just answered my own question, didn't I?😱

Yea, kinda. You can run server/workstation apps on a desktop (how many people here have 3dsmax I don't dare try to count 😉 ) and vice versa, although doing the former is asking for terrible performance and the latter is a waste of processor power and money.
