classical music

I like some classical music but its not something i'd listen to frequently. I will hear a classical song and think meh but then I'll hear an "electrified" version (done with electric guitar and all that stuff - think Trans-Siberian Orchestra) and I think "Wow, thats awesome!"

anyone else like that? i wonder why i like it better when its technically the same song?

I was just listening to Vivaldi's Winter done by Dark Moor and it rocks.

for me it's the opposite; if i hear a song in piano version i think it sounds better.

i much prefer the originals.. i downloaded this CD set a little while back called the "Top 100 Masterpieces of Classical Music" that's incredible. I'd recommend acquiring it (downloading or buying, it's only like $20 for CDs 1-5 on amazon, probably $20 for 6-10 too).

Ughh... that was worse than I thought it would be.

No dynamic contrast, articulation. It was just someone jamming on a guitar as fast as possible. There was no beauty in it.

At least someone is making it more accessible to the average listener instead of sustaining the elitist air that usually surrounds it.

It's good but I prefer DI.FM's chillout station. It's a mix of jazz beats and techno rhythm.

I definitely prefer the originals over "enhanced" versions. Collections of tons of more popular or well-known classical pieces can be good in that they provide easy exposure to a wide range of composers and styles, enabling you to figure out what you like and check out more of it without wasting time or money on other stuff that you wouldn't like.
