List goes something like this I guess (top bands first, but this changes quite a bit):

Led Zeppelin
Allman Brothers
Cream
Paul Butterfield Blues Band (not so much classic rock, but early white boy blues)
Steve Miller Band

That's probably my top5 right now. Plenty more that I haven't thought of I'm sure.

Shoot yourself for calling Def Leppard classic rock. It may be old but there's no way it's classic. You saved yourself with Boston and The Eagles. I'm not sure if they qualify as classic, but I'll throw in old school Van Halen.

They get my vote for most overrated classic rock band ever. They're good but not what people elevate them too. I feel pretty much the same way about Led Zeppelin though.

If Van Halen can be considered classic, why not def leppard? Def Leppard's first album was released only 2 years after Van Halen's first. Van Halen's first is in 1978, while Def Leppard's is in 1980.

Agree with you on Zeppelin... How the hell did rolling stone rate stairway to heaven the best rock song ever?

I guess we'll agree to disagree on pink floyd. It is one of those bands that makes you want to turn it up really loud, and just close your eyes.
