After watching that marimba google video thing (posted here) of the Mario NES songs, I started thinking about how much I enjoyed that system and how great the games were back in the day and they could even be fun today! Really an example of how the games make the console. I wonder what you all think are the classic games. I only remember the three Marios, duck hunt, and some dragon game. So, list away!

I am thinking about dusting off my NES and buying some games on eBay (cheap!) just because it seems like a neat idea. :D

I remember that deal. God, it was so great. An entire GAME, if you subscribed to NP. Not even parents could refuse that.

For a couple of years there, receiving my NP in the mail was almost like a religious experience. I would so completely look forward to it each time of that month. If it didn't come, I was so disappointed. Coming home from school with a new NP waiting was the best thing ever when I was about 10.

Technically, the magazine was fairly bad. But you didn't care or even notice back then. That's what makes childhood so great. :)

i remember when they started breaking the news of the SNES in NP..... man!!! so exciting.. that and getting to see what games were coming out.... memories.... i feel priveledged to have been my age when that all went down... I got my nintendo when it first came out, literally, and I was barely old enough to comprehend what it was... it was the shizzle, is what it was... duck hunt with the gun, gyromite with the bot... ROB....

FF1 ftw :D

In other words, the game that shows you just how easy the subsequent games have gotten.

Others:
Tecmo Super Bowl
Megaman series
Bubble Bobble
Duck Hunt
Basewars

I was just watching a speed demo of someone finishing "The Legend of Zelda" in 20-minutes and thinking about the weeks it took me to finish it the first time. That game, and Dragon Warrior, and FFI were awesome.

Hehe I have a speed demo of someone completing Super Mario 3 in like 11 minutes. I couldn't believe it.
