Classic JRPG lovers; what would you want in a new game?

I'd like to see interesting boss fights like the boss in Fanatic's Tower in FF6. The only way to win the fight was to use Life 3 (auto-resurrects upon death) on a party member before he cast Ultima

While that is the most obvious way to defeat that boss, it is not the only way to beat him.

OR cast reflect on one of your team members and bounce off Vanish and then Doom off of him towards the Magi Masters way. ~_^

I never got what the big deal was with his ultima. It always does 9999 damage if there's only one person left standing but against all 4 it only ever seemed to do around 3-5k.

Back onto this topic; any other ideas? The game will probably have random encounters, but how about you only have to deal with x amount of encounters for a zone, and after that you don't need to fight in that zone unless you want to via a menu option (Provoke enemy or something).

As far as random encounters, one thing that bothers me is when I'm trying to just explore a zone, and even if i just move back and forth 5 times, i get in 2 random battles. Im not even GOING anywhere and im getting in fights. So yeah, I agree as long as its x times in a zone or area or something, then it should be fine.

I think my problem with Random battles is just that it makes me completely lose any immersion i had with the game.

I want a final fantasy 8 remake with the ability to trash unwanted magics instead of having to use them :<
