Yeah, I just heard some Snoop song where he says "Drop, drop drop it like it's hot, drop it like it's hot". Has to be one of the most horrid things he's ever done, on par with that Drop Down and Get Your Eagle On song lol.Originally posted by: PanzerIV

🙂 amazing that these are now considered "classics". Seems like just yesterday I would be salivating to get the tape at Sam Goody.Originally posted by: PanzerIV
SP33D you're the man. 😉 I agree with most of your selections and would like to add...
(I am not very good at remembering titles but I will try)
Ice Cube: AmeriKKKa's Most Wanted, Death Certificate (Old Cube is to be revered)
Beastie Boys - Licensed to Ill
LL Cool J - I'm Bad
Lunch time but I will think of more...
I did like Cube back in the day, Death Cert and AmeriKKK were awesome. I also liked some of Cube's stuff after that, like the album with "Wicked" on it. Beasties were def groundbreakers, and stations actually still play their stuff of classic ROCK stations (94WYSP in Philly is a good example), I don't usually listen to them on a daily basis tho. Also don't really listen to much NWA/Dre/Snoop/Eazy anymore, although if it's on the radio I won't turn it off, they're still bangers. LL was great back in the day, although I don't really listen to much of his stuff before Mama Said Knock You Out.

Oh, I wholeheartedly agree with you that the golden years of Dre, Snoop, Cube and LL were back in the early 90s, late 80s. Their new stuff is unoriginal, uninspired and "poppish" if you know what I mean. Not to say I dislike all of their new stuff but it's not like the good ole days.
Also there are some great ones that I have missed that I've seen in others posts.
Definitely Slick Rick, Run DMC's early stuff (how could I forget that!!), A Tribe Called Quest's The Low End Theory, Slick Rick's Great Adventures and NWA's Straight Outta Compton.
To add:
Big Daddy Kane - Long Live the Kane, It's A Big Daddy Thing
MC Lyte - Eyes On This
Fresh Prince/DJ Jazzy Jeff - He's The D.J., I'm The Rapper <--- An innocent, fun compilation that your kids could actually listen to. No, it's not the stuff of legends but I'll always remember it fondly.
I like Tribe & Slick but probably wouldn't listen to their albums today, but definitely some of their gems like Bonita Appleblum.
Big Daddy Kane was the shiznit, forgot about him. Also forgot about the JUICE soundtrack, that was sick back in the day 😉
DJ Jazzy Jeff/FP was some fun stuff back in the day too, I have alot of respect Will Smith alot for "keeping it clean" so to speak. He's a good role model for kids.
