Classic Conservative take - it doesn't matter until it happens to me

I heard her rant on the show today. It was like she had an epiphany on air. I was surprised none of the other women called her out, but their faces showed what they did not say. It is no wonder why conservatives are so messed up. They say they are all about the family, but do nothing but support the corporate overlords that make the family unit dysfunctional. I am like you, progressive, no children, but I understood that the first months of a baby’s life is the most important. Could it be that this is just another conservative bait abs switch to get votes? Hhhmmmm

Meghan McCain had a baby and all of a sudden realizes that a respectable amount of paid maternity leave is kind of important. I'm a progressive dude that never has even had a partner make a baby, in fact I never wanted kids, but I had this shit figured out in my twenties that other people need it.

Unless you're anti-feminist, you should be advocating for paid paternity leave - NOT maternity ;)

You know - unless you're indicating that a woman's place is in the kitchen and at home taking care of the babies is their dedicated job.

One of the things conservatives love to say without thinking is "The definition of a liberal is someone who's personal interests arent at stake at this time". And it always amuses me how blind the average conservative can be.

Found it:

A liberal is a person whose interests aren't at stake at the moment.

The funny thing is that definition falls flat on its face because all liberal positions do involve direct personal interests. I may not need universal healthcare now but I certainly want the option if I ever need it. I may not need paid paternity leave right now but I certainly want the option if I need it. And so on and so on...

The better definition of a liberal Is "Someone who can think ahead about their personal interests on a broad level and move in that direction before it becomes a critical and crippling problem"

Meghan McCain learned something important. Good for her. Maybe it opened her mind to learning more.
And confirmed what most of us already knew, she is a selfish self centered bitch.

Why was she so fucking uncaring or stupid to begin with. Typical republican, "got mine, fuck you" until she didn't have it...

Conversatives believe in family from the 1950s, woman at home.

Paid leave should be for both parents. My company has gone from none in 2016, to 3 weeks in 2017, to 12 weeks in 2019. When my daughter was born in 2016, I got a lot of shit for taking FMLA. Now everyone takes the full 12, even middle management. I has really helped the culture, even for people that don't have new babies.

That’s awesome. I really wish I had had that option when we were having kids.

It sucks when it takes a life-changing event to realize something, but better to realize it than stay blind.

My come-to-jesus moment on UHC was when I was between jobs and had an ER visit. Sucks that it took that kind of event for me, but that's how the dice played out. I'm much more open minded now than I was back then.

you continue to be the dumbest dumbfuck about anything anywhere. I mean, seriously: it is just so goddamn uncanny how you can saunter your drunk-ass into any topic, say the dumbest motherfucking thing about that topic ever uttered in all known human languages, and yet honestly think that you are brilliant in your thinking, and remain eternally oblivious to the fact the rest of the world is already pre-cottoned to how fucking retarded you are about the thing you are about to say.

It is just...unreal how predictable this character is of yours. True respect, man.

This reminds me of the whole gay rights thing where conservatives adamantly opposed it until one of their children would come out as gay. As soon as it affected someone they knew they suddenly had an epiphany.

Yea, sale ole story. I guess I can say good for her realizing this, but it's something many people have been saying for a long time. Critical formative years are often disregarded for boot straps.

Not disagreeing with you about someone, but there are many reasons why both men and women should get equal paid family leave.

I wonder if she gave even two seconds to the notion that not all mothers are as fortunate and well-off as her? Not likely, that'd go against the FYGM way.

I wonder if Conservatives Lack or Suppress imagination? They seem confused by Hypotheticals, for eg, which are important for Empathy.

absolutely! but what does that have to do with the topic? the other half of the point is that dude makes many assumptions about what people think, so here he is, annoucing his support for an idea that is pretty much universally popular EVERYWHERE (so much so, that it is normal and expected everywhere...except the fucking United States, of course), and presents that as if HE is the only one that understands this. No one else. He argues against his belief that no one else is as brilliant as he thinks he is, despite what everyone actually thinks outside of his hallucinated reality, and also just exposes his plain ignorance about the rest of the world.

1: deflect attention from yet another stupid brainless thing that conservative idiot says
2: establish assumed reality to argue against, one that only an ignorant idiot would think is possible
3: bring up the boogeyman of feminism! for no fucking reason. inject into conversation because people probably forgot that I am mad about literally everything and I still don't know why.
4: belittle poster because they are too dumb to appreciate the reality that I have invented for them, and honestly doesn't exist only in my head. honestly!

It's all in there in like, 2 sentences. It's what impresses me so much.

Agreed. I have always made these benefits available within my organizations. If you take care of your staff, they do their very well. There are those who don’t deserve it, but the great majority do and appreciate it. Glad your company is seeing the benefits of doing this.
