Hello Everyone,

I just picked up a classic Athlon 700 and I was wondering if I need to purchase a cooling solution. I don't plan on overclocking. So is the stock black casing sufficient?

You MUST have a fan/heatsink of some sort. The black case is NOT cooling.

LOL! Dude you need some kind of heatsink/fan combo even if its not the best, otherwise you will fry your cpu.

Nothing wrong with a legacy Athlon depending on what you buy it for. I did buy mine when Athlons first came out and was disappointed when they made the switch to socket A. :( But, I avoided the need to upgrade with a GFD.

You do need a heatsink for that Athlon. I recommend a VOS 32, simply because it's not that much more than some of your other choices, and you may end up overclocking that cpu.
