Nothing wrong with a legacy Athlon depending on what you buy it for. I did buy mine when Athlons first came out and was disappointed when they made the switch to socket A.

But, I avoided the need to upgrade with a GFD.
You do need a heatsink for that Athlon. I recommend a VOS 32, simply because it's not that much more than some of your other choices, and you may end up overclocking that cpu.
