Really? No not really.

But if you could, how would it work?

I would muster up all the classic arcade games I could find and everything would be a quarter.

To offset the cost there would be an eatery and since most classic arcaders are now over 21, Beer would be served :D

Every 2 weeks there would be a tournment on a different arcade game with a prize of some kind.

2 secruity guys would be roaming the arcade to keep the Jevohah's Witnesses out. I don't know if anyone else saw those guys at Arcades when they were young but they were all over my favorite arcade annoying people.

And machines would use Quarters NOT tokens :| Supid Tokens, I hated them. :D

Don't forget the room full of pinball machines. Any classic arcade MUST have pinball. Two games for a quarter. 5 balls per game. None of this 3-balls-for-50cents crap.

And Pigskin, tournment cyberball, Tecmo Bowl, APB

What was that game where you were in a space tank and the sucker could flip over and still shoot? And if you pulled the 2 joysticks outward he would shoot a bomblike granade? I loved that game.

Battlezone?

don't forget Galaga!

What was that game that started off looking like a bowling alley and things would fly down the lanes at you and you uses a wheel to move to each lane and shoot? That was a pretty good game.

...and Defender!!!!

Yup. What a cool thread, Tex! :D Similar to Asteroids was another Vector-graphics (I think that's what that "bunch of lines together" technology is called) was a game called Star Castle. You flew this ship around the screen (like Asteroids) but in the middle of the screen was like this Mother Ship and it had a force field around it and you had to fire your weapon thru the breaks in the shield while dodging/blowing up the enemy ships that chased you around.

Anyone remember Phoenix? That game rocked.....

Also, I second the room full of Pinball Machines...and the BEER! :D

Don't forget the greatest of them all, CRAZY CLIMBER!!! You gotta get the tabletop version, not the standup. I spent countless hours at the YMCA climbing skyscrapers, dodging flowerpots, grabbing helicopters... I love that game!

Rampage is the game where you play either King Kong, Godzilla or some other large monster and you destroy buildings and eat people. It's fun as hell to punch in a window and eat the person who sticks his head out :D

The eatery would specialize in pizza.
Have a few big screen projectors to show the competitions.

make sure you have pac man and ms pac man.

Open 24 hours a day seven days a week, so you can stop in anytime to get rid of some stress!

Have a dozen or so cocktail table games, especially if beer will be served.

Hey Tex! :D I think I may have found your game...Vindicators
I remember playing it a few times in the arcade...pretty cool game. Tengen also released a version of it for the Nintendo NES. Wasn't Tengen that company that put out the first Nintendo Tetris game but got busted for it somehow?

Anyhow Tex, make sure that you have Xevious, Ikari Warriors and Operation Wolf!

Nintendo had already aqcuired the license for Tetris, so Tengen's version then became an illegal unauthorized copy. I thought Tengen had the better port since it had a vs. mode against the computer.

More info regarding the matter here.
I love Google.

Ah Tempest! - that is the game I had a lame descripton of earlier in the thread. I always sucked at that game, but it was a graphics masterpiece at the time.

Another game I always like was a racing game. It was a big machine with 4 steering wheels on it. You race a truck around a dirt track and win prize money to spend on upgrading the truck. I spent a LOT of money playing that game in college. Lot's of fun. anyone know its name?

Don't forget TRON

No one mentioned Joust, Star Castle, Moon Patrol and Sinistar.

I'm sure there are some more I missed. I'll have to think about it.
