Most of us seniors have either graduated already or are graduating within the next couple of weeks. Well, that's it, that's the end of high school for us seniors. So I am making this thread for those of us who just graduated or are about to, and we can discuss what it's like, what you miss about high school, share memories, and just about anything else here.

Personally I have mixed feelings about this. One part of me is glad to finally be going out into the world as an independent adult, but another part of me is sad from never again being able to walk down these halls again, seeing all my friends at the same time, or experience all of the things I experienced before. At this point I even miss 7th & 8th grade to quite an extent.

So what are you doing after high school everyone? I'm going to college in early 2012 and going to get a job. I'm also going to finish Final Fantasy VIII and once I'm done with that, I'm going to beat every single Final Fantasy game in chronological order from I to XIII, excluding XII and XIV which are MMOs. What about you?

Congratulations.

I loved being done with HS. A chance to get away from home and meet new challenges. And I'm not really nostalgic about it either. Though, apparently, I do enjoy school, as I'll be in school for the next 4-6 years (hooray being a graduate student!).

Congrats on finishing school. I remember when I finished - was sooo sad to never visit the place again. Fortunately for me, I got a part time IT job there for 3 years so that was good. Take the memories with you, they are to cherish forever.

Bills! Stay away from the bills!
I get annoyed with having to deposit checks into the bank, because they never gave me a check book so I have to fill out a deposit slip. So I can hardly wait to do all of that shit to a much greater extent.

Congrats!

OK with that out of the way, let me say moving onto college may seem like a big step, however even college isn't the "real world". Once you graduate college and are forced to find a full time job, start paying your own bills, making you own house payments, etc..., then you're thrown into the real world. Oh and don't be one of those people who treat college like high-school part 2; it isn't. And for the record, it's not cool to wear your varsity jacket, or HS sweatpants around college.

This, mostly. Unfortunately, I've been going to shithole cities because of undesired circumstances. :|

Only thing I was unhappy about was losing any friends I might have had. But that is how it is when you move so far away.

High school sucked, college kicked ass. My advice for you:

1) Get involved in things. It doesn't matter what it is, just do something – that could be a fraternity, intramural sports, whatever. I didn't do anything and I strongly regret it.

2) More likely than not, you're going to have at least one shitty roommate. As bad as it'll seem, take the opportunity to learn and develop your people skills. The rest of college will seem like a breeze once you get away from that one bad person.

3) Make sure that you meet as many people as possible. You don't want to be stuck with your roommates as your only friends. At least in my situation, establishing close friends early on was one of the best things that happened to me at college.

Good luck!

At my high school, you were considered successful if:
1. Did not get anyone pregnant
2. Did not catch a (severe) STD
3. Received a HS degree without taking the GED.
4. Did not suffer any horrific disfigurements due to accidents during drug or alcohol intoxication

If I had to do it all over again, I would have tried to get into West Point or joined the ROTC.

As far as college goes, get involved in research as a freshman, do COOPs / Internships so that you have over a year of work experience by the time you graduate, keep physically active (I suggest a karate class at the university or getting your SCUBA certification) and do not waste yourself away as being fat, drunk and stupid is no way to go through life.

If you like to party and have the time of your life for 4 years, consider a degree in business. If you do not mind studying hard during college and having a great chance of finding a job when you get out, consider Chemical / Petroleum engineering, mineral exploration engineering (and the like), computer science, electrical engineering, etc.

If I had the chance to re-do everything, I would have worked harder in HS and also tried to go to Annapolis or West Point. I always think back and wonder what would have happened if I joined the military or at least went to a military academy instead of going to college.

You can't deposit checks at your banks ATM? So much faster IMO.

Congrats, you have managed to get pushed through the public school system. I know a whole lot of deadbeats who graduated and didn't do shit. Go make something of yourself and then we'll give you a pat on the back.

I came in here specifically to say this.

Word of advice: Do NOT go back to college at 30. At the stupid, ignorant, lazy, whiny children will annoy the fuck out of you.
