HT has its disadvantages just like it has its advantages. That part doesn't get picked up as much.
It's always about the sum of the advantages and disadvantages. Does HT provide a net positive or net negative impact on performance in the tasks and applications for which it will be used? That is the question to ask, not whether it wins one benchmark or loses another.
And yes, HT's disadvantages do get talked about as much as its advantages. In nearly every thread on Intel's HT (be it the Netburst or Nehalem flavor) there's always someone who mentions that it's not always advantageous.
