Clarification of HTT vs. FSB

So I've been reading some OC articles lately that suggest that the FSB rating isn't terribly pertinent to athlon64 systems given the HTT, and that the HTT is going to be 2x external clock speed. So when I installed this ASUS utility (aibooster) that gives me a visual readout of my various settings it lists my FSB as 800Mhz under stock configuration. I was mystified by this given that both my cpu and a8n-sli deluxe list FSB as 1000. I even wrote asus an email about it asking what was up and they suggested that an ID string on my CPU was off?

I've learned a little more since then, and if the HTT is actually locked in at 2x then to me that suggests 200Mhz external clock *2 for DDR *2 for HTT = 800Mhz. Right now my 3700+ is OC'd to 2750 using 275x10 (5:4) and aibooster lists my FSB as 1100Mhz.

The math works out on that, but how come in my CMOS I have HTT options of 2x,3x,4x,5x, and AUTO? Whichever one I select seems to make no difference in the reading of my aibooster nor my prime95 tests. So it would seem that either A) HTT multi is locked at 2x for my system or B) I misunderstand this whole concept.

Can someone fill me in?
TIA

In case someone was gonna ask me, my rig is:

a64 3700+ san diego (OC is 2750 275x10 5:4)
asus a8n-sli deluxe
2x512MB mushkin pc3200 2.5-4-4-8
7800GT
coolermaster 450W PSU

I hate to bump, but somebody's gotta know what I'm talking about or have tried it on this rig before?
