Justice Clarence Thomas has been secretly lobbying senators to get a Trump judicial nominee confirmed

"In a rare move Supreme Court Justice Clarence Thomas has been secretly lobbying Republican Senators to urge them to vote to confirm President Donald Trump‘s highly controversial judicial nominee, Neomi Rao.

Justice Thomas “is working behind the scenes to boost the prospects of his former law clerk, Neomi Rao, to serve on a powerful federal appeals court in Washington,” The Washington Post reports Thursday."

Uh, so i guess this means the retirement rumors must be onto something. Probably similar wheeling and dealing going on as with Kennedy. i thought he'd probably do it this year....

Edit: Fixed

I thought that was his wife's job?

Anyhoo, you bet your ass Thomas retires before the end of the year, to avoid putting Mitch in the odd position of holding SCOTUS confirmation hearings during an election year. Not that Mitch would really care about being a hypocrite.

Meh, not so weird to want to support the person you’d like to take your job.

i guess you're referring to the retirement speculation? Maybe so, but it's pathetic because Donnie is an obvious felon and will go with whatever will appease the party that's covering for him.

As for the article, Neomi is the replacement for Kavanaugh's position. if Thomas doesn't retire soon, he should recuse (ha, fat chance) on everything she is involved in.

There's something wrong with him to be married to such a loon. He has no business being there.

Yup. That's what i was thinking, and it'll get more awkward as it becomes clearer even to trumpanzees he's a serial felon. And NONE of these conservative assholes would apply the same reasoning they have with felon disenfranchisement. We'll have to keep all these assholes despite them all being chosen by the orange buffoon.

I hate to give conservatives any credit as they routinely turn around and shit all over it, but perhaps he's trying to get Senators onboard so that they can try and keep Turmp the fuck out of it and put someone reasonable. Then again, its probably more likely they're gonna try to ram another despicable piece of shit like Kavanaugh onboard and just want to try and at least make sure that the idiot won't turn into a bawling conspiracy spewing jackass in front of them.

Why would Thomas retire? It doesn't make any sense.

If he has little confidence in Republicans holding onto the Presidency and Senate beyond 2020. He can be replaced by his hand-picked successor and ensure his seat stays ultra conservative.

Other than Kavanaugh, Trump just picks from the list the GOP puts in front of him, like ordering from the menu. Kavanaugh was fine with them, anyway.

I doubt he looks at it that way. His ego is too big.
