Best Buy again for this one, use the 20% off coupon good through 11/5 only....brand new card it was locked in the counter case , it hadn't made to the shelf yet...DDR memory twice the speed of sdram but then only half the pipeline so I gues it's the same as the older sdram models.....

What you say about the Creative Labs Annihilator 2 MX is almost correct. Yes, the DDR is double pumped on a 64 bit bus. Yes, theoretically that would equal an SDR version on a 128 bit us, but only IF the clockspeeds are the same. Most SDR MX's are clocked at 166 MHz. The CL MX DDR is clocked at 143 MHz (due to 7 ns chips).

SDR: 166 MHz x 128 bit bus = 2.6 Gbytes/sec
DDR: 143 MHz x 2 (due to DDR) x 64 bit bus = 2.2 Gbytes/sec

We all know that the memory bandwidth is what holds the MX back. That being said, you could pick it up (theoretically) at buy.com for $95 a couple a days ago. It is still on backorder and has not shipped yet. Yes, I did buy one at buy.com before I did the research. I am thinking about canceling the order and picking up an SDR version, or maybe that Geforce 2 from compgeeks.com or ocie.com. $100 for an MX ... $165 for a Geforce 2 ... decisions, decisions, decisions.....

so you're saying the DDR is worse than the SDR? hmmmmmm.........guess my leadtek isnt so bad after all.........

Could someone please E-Mail me the location for the coupon? My local Bestbuy just got 5 of them in and I would like to get one (or two) if I can get the 20% off. How would a DDR Geforce 2 MX compare to a Voodoo 3 3000? Would I be better off to wait and find an SDR version?
I hope someone could locate the coupon for me. The local store only has 5 in stock and no telling how long they will last. I assume the coupon would be good at brick and mortar stores.

Just came from best buy and was gonna post a "warm" deal on this card for $129, but good to see you guys are on top of it and made it somewhat hot... There's free shipping at best buy right now too if i'm not mistaken.

Hey, Just a quick thanks to everybody. I just got back from the local Bestbuy and brought home my new Creative Annihilator 2 MX. The coupon worked great! Now to install this bad boy and see how it runs. If it is good as I hope, I will have to send my wife back tomorrow with another coupon and get one for the system I will be upgrading next weekend. Of course, if it isn't that great, I will stay with the old Voodoo 3 3000 PCI card. Thanks again, saved a nice $26, plus had a $20 gift card from Boss's Day, so my net cost was just $92.31 incl. 8% sales tax.

If you can stand just one more update to this thread, I installed the Creative Annihilator 2 MX and it is amazing!! I am sad to say it put my old voodoo 3 3000 to shame. Beautiful color and detail, and UT still averages over 60 fps at 800x600!! It may well be that the SDR versions are a little bit faster, but the Creative looks great, installs effortlessly, runs fine and the 2D looks okay to me. For $129 it is a good buy, IMHO. (For $103, it is a steal)
Thanks again everyone. The only problem is that I should have had my wife pick up another one while the coupon was still good.:(
